It's About What We Eat
My food journey has brought me here: growing, eating, healing.
The Quest for Wellbeing
JOCELYN J MURRAY
I’m Jocelyn J Murray, registered natural health practitioner. My quest for wellbeing and good food began 34 years ago, and running against the grain has not always been easy.
My dietary path, often tumultuous, began with throwing sugar and white bread out of my pantry. High-stress jobs, out-of-control weight, irritated bowel syndrome and adrenal fatigue meant I needed to step up to new heights to maintain good health for the rest of my life.
I explored diets which incorporated more vegetables, began growing my own herbs and vegetables to ensure my family ate spray free, ate less meat, ate no packaged products, removed commercial breads and dairy from our diets, reduced wine and coffee and got moving. I transformed my body and lost 22 kilograms over 15 months.
Credibility & Philosophy
I then decided to do further nutritional study with a credible organisation that mirrored my own philosophy: whole food and holistic wellbeing. I became a registered natural health practitioner. I completed a course in nutrition with the Nutrition Academy, established by Cyndi O’Meara from Changing Habits, to become a certified functional nutrition consultant. I also studied gut microbiome through the same academy. I enjoy to learn, and my studies will continue on.
Sharing Good Healthy Food
I am lucky enough to live in Gulf Harbour at the end of Auckland’s Whangaparaoa peninsula. We are surrounded by sea, sand and regional park where I can feel the wide, open spaces and put my feet in the ocean on my daily walks.
I seem to have a keen green touch in the garden and we have a well-established, thriving vegetable garden that keeps the household in spray-free, fresh herbs and vegetables. I eat good, clean whole food, a wide variety of greens, bright fruits, herbs and spices and I know where it all comes from. If I don’t grow it, I try to visit the farm, or talk to the grower, at their market table.
I’m here today because my family has encouraged me to find a way to share my story with others: to help people achieve their ideal weight, eat to live well and share good, healthy food with their loved ones.
As a certified health and wellness coach, I want to share useful tips, recipes and ideas about food with others to helps us all on our journey towards being well and feeling alive.
